About the destination: Bonaire is a Caribbean island east of Central America and north of Venezuela. Together with Aruba and Curaçao, it forms the group known as the ABC islands. Bonaire is a nature lovers’ island. The island has three nature sanctuaries, one for birds and wildlife, another for flamingos, and the third for marine life. Bonaire is one of the few remaining nesting places in the world for the pink flamingo. Its turquois and blue waters are so beautiful and inviting. The streets and buildings look European, but the people, the food, the music and the colourful street markets have a distinctly Caribbean flair. Willemstad is the capital of Curaçao. Willemstad has a gorgeous old town. Many of the buildings were constructed in the colonial Dutch manner in the early 18th century. The facades of these buildings are a kaleidoscope of colours ranging from pastel tints to vibrant blues, greens, reds, purples, jades, and buffs in a wide variety of shades. This flat island with no rivers is renowned for its white sand beaches and tropical climate moderated by constant trade winds from the Atlantic Ocean. As any Caribbean destination, its beaches do not disappoint, they are wonderfully pretty with silver sand, warm shallow turquoise waters and an abundance of interesting birds and fauna.
