About the destination: The city of Buenos Aires is the capital and largest city of Argentina. Approximately 3 million people live in this city. Buenos Aires is a huge city, with plenty of neighbourhoods to visit and so much to see and do! The wonderfully colourful neighbourhood right next to the old port of Buenos Aires, La Boca is synonymous with both tango and football. With its multi-coloured houses and taverns, the neighbourhood maintains its tango tradition, football passion, and Italian roots. Today, it is one of the most important cultural centres and tourist attractions in Buenos Aires. Take a walking tour, watch a game at the famous Boca stadium or attend a local tango show. San Telmo, the oldest residential neighbourhood in Buenos Aires, exudes a special historical vibe. As one of the most important centres during the 19th century, San Telmo has preserved many of Buenos Aires’ architectural landmarks, museums, antique shops and old churches. Puerto Madero is a new neighbourhood full of restaurants and bars. It's nice to walk there in a sunny day, the view is pretty nice.Vibrant, nostalgic, seductive and dynamic, Buenos Aires is a European city with Latin-American flavour. About the destination: Ushuaia, which overlooks the emerald waters of the Beagle Channel, claims to be the southernmost city in the world and is the largest city in Argentine Tierra del Fuego. The beautiful town is nestled between the freezing waters of the Bay of Ushuaia and the snow-clad peaks behind. The snow-capped mountains are in view almost everywhere you look.Ushuaia is a good base from where to explore the surrounding beautiful scenery but there is also plenty to see in town. Parallel to the shoreline, Avenida San Martin is the main commercial street of the town and where everything is happening. In the centre of Ushuaia you can see some interesting old houses built in the old colonial style, as well as the interesting Museo Del Fin Del Mundo, located in the Old House of Government. This museum presents the history of Ushuaia and Tierra del Fuego including the history of the indigenous tribes that once inhabited this land. El Presidio is another popular attraction. The former prison of Ushuaia has been turned into a museum and an art gallery. Main attractions in Ushuaia are, however, on the dazzling outdoors, such as the Isla los Lobos, the penguin rookeries or the famous Martial glacier.Ushuaia is the gateway to Antarctica and the Tierra del Fuego National Park. It is a great place to view wildlife including penguins, dolphins, orcas, seals and a wide variety of birds. Ushuaia is where the world ends or where it starts.

A great deal of foreigners visits this site due to its ideal natural conditions for lovers of outdoor activities, especially hiking. Considered the Argentinian capital of hiking, several trails start at its very streets and get deep into the impressive surrounding mountains, such as the Fitz Roy, the Poincenot or the very particular Mount Torre. The latest national census has established that there are over a thousand steady denizens but the number multiplies remarkably from November thru May, due to the huge amount of visitors who come along to enjoy the summer months. It lies 212 kilometers away from El Calafate, a distance covered in less than 3 hours, as the new road is in excellent condition. During this journey, visitors will get past some sites worth photographing. The surroundings of El Chaltén combine the magic of nearby glaciers, the hidden ponds, sky-blue Lake Viedma and the mystical presence of Mount Fitz Roy. From the village, visitors may spot its imposing unmistakable summit, almost always covered by a cloud the Tehuelche people misread as smoke, a slip that gave origin to the native name of the hill: “chaltén”, which stands for “volcano” or “smoking mountain”.
